Wakefield Song Lyrics

When we first made the Wakefield album and started putting the graphics together, we considered including the song lyrics for each song, but there was no space on the front or back covers, and we didn't think it was practical to make a fold out cover or add an additional sheet, especially considering that no one felt like our lyrics were anything special. Still, I always thought it was fun to read the lyrics to the songs that I liked, while listening to the song. So, for those of you that would like to do the same, I have included the lyrics to the songs I wrote. Perhaps I can talk Geoff into jotting his down as well. If so, I will include them as I receive them.
It's A Beautiful Day
Wakefield began touring at the height of the cold war. There was a great deal of despair and worry that any day could be our last, that at any time, with the push of a button, the world could come to an end. I had often heard people say things like "Why worry about the future when the world will come to an end anyway?"
When people become lonely, there is the same feeling of despair and sadness. It was because of these types of feelings in people that I was inspired to write "It's a Beautiful Day". It was meant to give people a bit of hope and the understanding that each of us has the ability to see beauty all around us if we just take a moment to see it.
I know, how you must feel I know you're sad. I've seen it, before you know it can be bad.
We all must hang on, day by day...we see too often, we've lost our way.
We sit in darkness, a friend to hide...all the feelings we've kept inside... today...It's such a beautiful day
Somehow, the world goes by not noticing you. And how, can you go on with this upon you.
Always thinking you have no one. Lonely leaves no place to run.
Having no more tears to cry, hoping now that you could die...today...It's such a beautiful day
Come out now. Feel the sunshine through the leaves.
Close your eyes now. Feel the warmth of the smiling breeze.
Because you forget, you still have you, and the smiling day to help you through.
